best way to organize medical records

How to Organize Your Medical Records in 4 Easy Steps

Keeping your medical records in order is a vital step to managing not just your health, but your family’s health as well. When you’re able to easily access your medical records, getting sick, changing doctors, or experiencing a medical emergency are much easier tasks to take on.

It can be overwhelming when you’re the primary caregiver of your family and are responsible for everyone’s health but, there are some ways you can simplify the process and make it easier for yourself.

Ask for your medical documents and records

At your next doctor’s appointment or phone call, ask for your medical documents and let your doctor know that you’re working on creating your own personal medical record file, along with your family’s. You may be asked to sign a release form, which is standard procedure in certain cases.

Make copies of your medical records

The first thing you need to have are copies of your medical records. If you make paper copies, store them in a binder or file folder, and organize them with tabs.

Don’t forget to make digital copies as well, as you can then easily store them online and bring them on the go with you.

Keep them organized in the Acensa Health App

To keep your medical records organized, upload them into your Acensa Health app. With the app, you can create a profile for each of your family members, and add their medical records and documents to the wallet feature. You’ll no longer have to worry about forgetting an appointment or a medical file at your next visit to the doctor’s office.

Add your prescriptions and medical cards

Prescriptions and medical cards are just as important to keep on file as your medical records and history. Adding prescriptions will help keep you on track to staying on top of your family’s medical needs.
